Laura is a Licensed Professional Counselor Associate (LPCA) and a National Certified Counselor (NCC). She holds a Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration from Ohio University, and earned her Master’s degree in Clinical Mental Health Counseling from Wake Forest University.
Laura works with adults, adolescents, couples, and families surrounding issues such as anxiety, depression, emotional dysregulation, communication, coping skills, grief/loss, substance abuse, separation/divorce, low self-worth, work stress, parenting struggles, high-conflict relationships, overcoming past trauma, and life transitions and adjustments.
She conceptualizes clients from a developmental and social systems lens, working from a foundation of Person-Centered Therapy. Laura also utilizes planned, goal-based interventions, drawing from Cognitive-Behavioral Therapy, Dialectical Behavior Therapy, Motivational Interviewing, Solutions-Focused Therapy, and Mindfulness approaches. In working with couples, she incorporates elements of the Gottman approach and Emotionally-Focused Therapy.
Laura is married and spent several years at home with her three children before continuing her career in counseling.
